About Katie L Lindley

Although I would like to say I am organized, focused, and cookie-cutter, that simply would not be me.

I have been forever curious about relationships — the kind of curious that asks the awkward question nobody wants asked. How else was I going to work out why some of them hold and some of them don’t?

That curiosity became my first book, A Man for Every Purpose: My Naked Journey Searching for Love, which is about the men and the many purposes they served.

Then my children grew up and left, and instead of staying in the house I had lived in for twenty-eight years, I handed a family of strangers the keys and drove away. What followed was two years without an address — a borrowed sailboat, a boyfriend’s guest room, my parents’ spare bedroom at an age when nobody expects to move home, and a string of houses I was paid to sleep in. I was looking for a new house, or a new man, and I was fairly certain one of them would fix it.

That became A House for Every Purpose: Empty Nesting Without a Nest.

I write here about love, home, marriage, divorce, motherhood, and what happens to a woman when the house goes quiet. I live in Montecito, California, with my husband. There are five grandchildren, a great deal to be grateful for, and one pink overnight bag in happy retirement at the back of a closet.

Why Sex, Love, Mantra?

TOPICS

It was born to help others navigate through relationships and life. Every article is written as a guidepost. They are all based on my past mistakes and awakenings. Readers will enjoy a vicarious peek into a world full of love, dating, single-hood, and life-changing moments.

Sex

TOPIC

“We are born a sexual being, we will die a sexual being, and somewhere in between we will learn about our own sexuality. Sex is our right, is our privilege, and is our blessing, if we can see it that way, if we treat it that way.”

Love

TOPIC

“Pulling from the depths of human spirit love is what we were made for. Creativity submerges from love. Songs, plays, books, to live for to die for, love. Beautiful historic evidence that love is here and has always been.”

Mantra

TOPIC

“Mantra can be a moment, a plea, and a song of the heart. Mantra for me is a prayer, chatting with spirit. A soulful certainty, knowingness, that my still voice is being heard. Breathing into meditation manifesting my own truth.”
