About Katie L Lindley
Although I would like to say I am organized, focused, and cookie-cutter, that simply would not be me.
I have been forever curious about relationships — the kind of curious that asks the awkward question nobody wants asked. How else was I going to work out why some of them hold and some of them don’t?
That curiosity became my first book, A Man for Every Purpose: My Naked Journey Searching for Love, which is about the men and the many purposes they served.
Then my children grew up and left, and instead of staying in the house I had lived in for twenty-eight years, I handed a family of strangers the keys and drove away. What followed was two years without an address — a borrowed sailboat, a boyfriend’s guest room, my parents’ spare bedroom at an age when nobody expects to move home, and a string of houses I was paid to sleep in. I was looking for a new house, or a new man, and I was fairly certain one of them would fix it.
That became A House for Every Purpose: Empty Nesting Without a Nest.
I write here about love, home, marriage, divorce, motherhood, and what happens to a woman when the house goes quiet. I live in Montecito, California, with my husband. There are five grandchildren, a great deal to be grateful for, and one pink overnight bag in happy retirement at the back of a closet.
