“Success is the sum of small efforts – repeated day in and day out.” Robert Collier

I shy away from resolutions. Frankly, I bolt; resolutions for me equals unresolved. They set me up to fail. However, dedication to one small act can have a profound impact, especially with gratitude.

Long ago, in a land filled with possibilities and love, I had another twenty-one-day challenge that utterly changed my life. My boyfriend at the time suggested that we sleep together because we had not yet; when I decided the time was right, we spent twenty-one nights together to make it a habit. I had heard it all in my dating world. His suggestion sounded fresh, committed, exposed, a no bs kind of an offer. As a continued explorer of love, at the very least, I found it to be a fascinating challenge.

The end of this twenty-one-night deal led us to a domestic partnership with marriage to follow; the challenge was a success.

Gratitude journal. Why gratitude? Why write it down? Writing it down helps to wire it through you. Add your dreams and goals as well as what you are grateful for. What you center yourself on, your energies will lean towards.

How can focus on gratitude change everything?

It can change everything. The shift happens within. Concentration on possibilities, on dreams, on life that has already manifested. When the light inside shines on the positive with a list of gratitude, more comes towards you, much like “The Secret” but more profound than a vision board.

The difference is the feeling you muster from the inside as you write your gratitude list. You are a welcoming addition to what you would like to incision for your future—embracing it with excitement as if it has already shown up, like waking up on a day filled with yes. We know what that day feels like now. We can pretend that is another one of those yes days.

I started my twenty-one-day challenge today. I know that tomorrow when I wake up before I pick up my phone I will write in my journal. Confessing that it is an old notepad, but that will do the trick. I hope you will join me in this challenge whether you are looking for love, wanting to fall in love all over again with your partner, an inspired life change, or healing.

How has the power of gratitude and manifestation impacted me?

Six years ago, lost, without my own home, I moved to Santa Barbara, a place I have always loved. I got a job riding horses, my first true love. I met and married my best friend, a big sweetheart. I published my first book, an incredible accomplishment. Last but not least, three grandchildren have come into our world. That is the power of gratitude and manifestation.

Did I have doubtful dark moments? Yes. Through those moments, I held onto what I saw as my truth; then, my life unfolded many of those truths. More than I could have asked for, honestly. Perhaps some of those things will land on my now gratitude list tomorrow morning?

Can you write down what you are grateful for every morning?

Do you have a gratitude journal, vision board, wish list?

My Mantra” “From my notepad to yours.”

Although I would like to say I am organized, focused and cookie-cutter, that simply would not be me. I am no different than any other woman in the world. I love to love, love hard, and, in the end, have learned to love myself above all else. So here I am, writing about the many men and the multiple purposes they have served in my life. Realizing that not one man on my roster had fulfilled every single one of my needs. Perhaps one man is not supposed to? I have compiled snippets of the men that have entered my world. In the end, they have shoved me towards my bathroom mirror, forcing me to take a better look at myself. Reflection is brilliant and the strongest guidepost into ourselves.

Working on the next book in the series “A House for Every Purpose, My Journey From Pillow to Pillow” revels a woman abandoning her home in search or her identity beyond men, motherhood, author.
