“There’s a difference between thinking you deserve to be happy and knowing that you are worthy of being happy. Your being alive makes worthiness your birthright. You alone are enough.” Oprah Winfrey
What you think you are worthy of, you will get every time.
The simple law of self-worth is with us and creeps after us like a shadow in the night. Self-worth impacts us daily. Begs the question: if you carry around the impact of childhood trauma (and we all do), can you overcome and realize your self-worth versus your sad story?
Yes, with some effort, you can transform your belief system and wake up to the life you’ve always wanted to create. Being intentional about your direction and why you have chosen your path. Holding confidence in what value is, and what that means to you.
Having high self-worth is essential because it can profoundly improve your quality of life, boosting esteem, resilience, and security, while also allowing for a more straightforward approach to letting go of control.
I wake up knowing, okay, this day is mine. People with higher self-esteem tend to have better relationships with others because they are less likely to be swayed by what others think or say.
For myself, I have had many naysayers in my life. Those who did not feel I amounted to much, that my life was filled with useless, frivolous ideas. This just made me stronger and more driven. I chose to listen to the voice inside me that said, “I absolutely can.” That attitude helped me take a step closer to believing in myself. Every day is not perfect; some days I revert to endless questions, but those days are fewer. I adjust my shoulders back, pick myself up, with skinned knees, and go forward. The march of a skinned-kneed girl knows no bounds.
When you value yourself and put a high price on your inherent worth, you embrace self-compassion and see yourself with human kindness and consideration. Instead of harshly judging yourself, second-guessing what you’re experiencing, pay careful attention to explore where a thought or feeling comes from. Your thoughts and feelings are valid. Notice if those thoughts are your tired story. Acknowledge it, then move on.
Guess what, you have moved on; do not let the tape replay and change your trajectory.
So, how do you change your story and focus on healing your belief system? Practicing self-care involves challenging and releasing negative thoughts as they arise. Prioritize your well-being. Surround yourself with people who support who you are and understand your dreams. Forgiving yourself and accepting your imperfections is crucial on your journey.
I make my home as beautiful as I can. I get inspired by Nancy Meyers, who has made movie sets that people want to live in. I find inspiration in beauty, both inside my home and outside my front door. Life is in the details, and when my life is cleared of clutter, I push forward with greater ease.
I am thrilled to be nearing the end of publishing my second book. That is one simple reason I wake up to the world I have created for myself. Happy in my home, surrounded by my husband, dog, and garden. Reasons to prop myself up and welcome the day.
This is my life, I have one. I want to do much more with it. I start today, and then the next day. Keeping in mind more days are behind me than ahead of me—gifting me a reason to march forward with confidence and history. I carry a personal road map of where I have been, and open up all possibilities of where I will go.
My Mantra: “Gratitude, self-care, seeing beauty, love, friends, creating; I am blessed in my days.”
